Hey American gays,

You realize this means you may all be able to get married anywhere in the country sometimes in the next four years, right? YESSSSSSSSS.

Because the election is tomorrow I’ve obviously seen a shit ton of Mitt Romney stuff and it’s been annoying the fuck out of me. I wrote this because I just wanted to say this before the election. Sorry that the grammar and stuff is really terrible but oh well, deal with it.

Dear Mittens,

With the election being tomorrow and all, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking in regards to the horrific event of you actually winning.

In the First Amendment it states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” If you become the President of the United States shouldn’t you be required to uphold one of the basic principles of your country? Why do you get to impose your personal, religious beliefs about abortion and gay marriage on an entire country? Isn’t that exactly what the First Amendment is saying you are NOT allowed to do? If you don’t like gay marriage, whatever your reasons may be, that’s your prerogative, but you have no right imposing your views on an entire country. Also, “prohibiting the free exercise thereof”, does not mean you get to impose your religious beliefs on an entire country. It means you are entitled to your own beliefs and that’s it. It doesn’t mean you can make laws in respect to your religion and justify it because people are not allowed to prohibit your freedom of religion.

The separation of Church and State is pretty self explanatory, wouldn’t you say? All it means is that the Church (meaning any religious influence) shall not play a part in law making. That means, if you become President, you have absolutely no right to impose your beliefs on gay marriage and abortion on the entire country. Here’s an idea: If you don’t want a gay marriage, don’t get one.

Now, I’m Canadian so any of these laws wouldn’t really have any effect on me. I’m writing this because this is what I believe in. I believe that you shouldn’t be allowed to take away someone’s basic human right to marry the person they love, and you should not be allowed to take away a woman’s right to her own body. The fact that you would even consider that, especially on the basis of religion, in which you are supposed to be loving and kind to everyone, makes me sick.

I am Jewish, gay, and Canadian. I was raised with Judeo-Christian values and morals. One thing I learned is that you treat everyone equally. You don’t tell someone they are lesser than because and don’t give them equal rights because they are attracted to people of the same gender; have a different colour skin; practice a different religion; or anything else.

In conclusion, you’re an asshole and should not be President.

dontyoucallyourhusbanddaddy:

What do all of these pictures have in common? They are all of people who are bringing religion into law making in the United States.

This bugs the shit out of me. Not because these assholes are against gay marriage (I mean, duh, that makes me mad as fuck) but because they’re using their religious beliefs to help in the creation of a law or in the amendment of other “laws”, in a country in which a basic principle is that Church and State are separate. I mean, it says it in the Bill of Rights, for fucks sake.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Now, I know this isn’t an issue that’s going to Congress, so some assholes may say, “But it’s not Congress so it doesn’t count, blah, blah, blah,” or some other shit. To those who say that, fuck off.

The girl in the second picture wrote, “I believe in the Bible and in religious liberty.”  Um, isn’t imposing your beliefs on other people the exact opposite of religious liberty? If you believe that same sex marriage is wrong because of you’re religion, don’t get one. Simple as that. You have no right imposing your religious beliefs on other people. Hypocritical bitch.

If you live in any of the four states voting on same-sex marriage today, please make the right choice and vote in favour of it. Make sure everyone has equal opportunity to marry the person they love.
